ASG 2022 Conference — Thank Yous and Image Gallery
By Franka Vaughan.
On behalf of the African Studies Group at the University of Melbourne, I would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who participated in our recent conference ‘Reimagining Migration in (out) of Africa in the Post-pandemic World: Taking Stock and Building Resilience’ convened in partnership with the African Research and Engagement in Australia Initiative (AREiA).
We appreciate the time you took to attend the conference either in person or on zoom and your contributions to the various sessions and discussions. Those engagements have given us a sense of deep reflections and thoughts as we forge ahead with similar events in the future.
Special thanks to Professor Patricia Daley of Oxford University who came all the way to the down under to give what was a poignant and reflective Public Lecture on ‘Decolonising Asylum: Colonialism, Racism and Humanitarianism in the Shaping of Refugee (Un) Belonging in East Africa’. Words alone cannot express how grateful we are to Professor Daley for engaging with the student organisers and all aspect of the conference and beyond. Ayekoo!
